Whim Urban 30 as a Whim plan
This plan is suitable for regular travelers who could use the occasional flexibility of a taxi or car. With this plan, you will get the following:
- Different options for HSL 30-day tickets that a customer can choose from depending on the municipality (zone) they live in.
- Unlimited 30-minute trips with city bikes with Helsinki & Espoo City bikes during summer bike season (Vantaa not included).
- 12,50€ flat-rate taxi trips with Taksi Helsinki for 3km/10min rides. Flat-rate taxi trips apply to Taksi Helsinki trips that are max 3km and 10minutes long. If your trip is longer than 3km and or 10min, normal meter pricing applies.
- Affordable rental cars starting from €49/day. Kindly note that an additional driver is included in the price when you rent from Sixt and Toyota Rent. However, an additional driver is not included in the price, when renting from Hertz, but this can be purchased as an extra service when picking up the car (29,50€ per additional driver). Please note that the additional driver must also come along to pick up the car and present their driving license when picking up the car.
- Access to book and pay TIER and VOI e-scooters. As a Whim customer, you only pay standard pricing for your scooter-rides.
The price of the Whim Urban 30 plan is 62,70€/30 days. In the table below (Fig. 1) you can see pricing for Whim Urban 30 plans with different HSL zone tickets.

Depending on the area you live and travel in, you can choose a 30-day ticket type that is most suitable for you from the different ticket options available.
Please note that in zones A, B and C, you need an AB or BC ticket, depending on the area you travel in. Only in zone D can you buy a one-zone ticket.

Eligibility requirements for the HSL 30-day Ticket
In order to subscribe to Whim Urban 30 and to get access to the HSL 30-day ticket, one must first establish eligibility. You do this as follows:
- You need to have a permanent address in one of the following municipalities: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kirkkonummi, Kauniainen, Kerava, Sipoo, Siuntio, and Tuusula, or in the neighbouring municipalities: Hanko, Hausjärvi, Inkoo, Karkkila, Lohja, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila, Raasepori and Vihti.
- You will need to either authenticate with bank credentials or with a mobile certificate. Strong authentication will be done as part of HSL service (outside of the Whim app). During the process, you need to either log in to your existing HSL account or create a new HSL account.
- Your HSL travel time entitlement should not be currently active in the HSL app.
- HSL app: Do you currently have the 30-day ticket active in the HSL app?
→ If yes, you cannot start the Whim Urban 30 plan, rather you will need to wait until the 30-day ticket in the HSL app has expired.

Subscribing to Whim Urban 30
1. Start the upgrade process through Profile view in the app. You can access the Profile view by tapping the profile symbol at the top left corner of the Home view.

2. Press “Find a Whim Plan” and select Whim Urban 30.

3. Edit the plan by selecting the suitable HSL zone for your 30-day ticket.

4. Continue to HSL authentication and give MaaS Global/Whim authorization to handle things for you and log in or register to HSL account.

5. After the HSL authentication, continue to pay and subscribe to the plan

6. Now your Whim Urban 30 plan is activated and you can enjoy your trip with Whim! Kindly note that the ticket will renew automatically every 30 days according to the renewal cycle of your plan.

Taxi-related questions
Can I use the HSL 30-day internal ticket in more than one municipality, such as in both Espoo and Helsinki?
You can travel in the zones which are included in your plan. If you would like to travel to a wider area, you could purchase the zone extension tickets. For more information regarding the pricing of the zone extension tickets, please see here.
What are the eligibility requirements for the HSL 30-day ticket?
1) You need to have a permanent address in the HSL service area which includes Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kirkkonummi, Kauniainen, Kerava, Sipoo, Siuntio, and Tuusula, or in the neighbouring municipalities, which are Hanko, Hausjärvi, Inkoo, Karkkila, Lohja, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila, Raasepori and Vihti.
2) You will need to be able to do strong authentication - either with bank credentials or with a mobile certificate.
3) Your HSL travel time entitlement should not be currently active in your travel card nor in HSL app.
What is HSL Strong Authentication?
When signing up for Urban 30 plan, HSL’s Strong Authentication with an HSL account is required so that HSL can verify your home municipality and that you are eligible for the 30-day ticket. You are, therefore, required to strong authenticate either with bank credentials or with a mobile certificate.
Your strong authentication is valid for 12 months from the time it has been first made. When your strong authentication expires, your plan will not be able to renew and will be automatically discontinued. After this you will be required to go through the authentication process again by signing up to Urban 30 through Whim app. Unfortunately, it is not possible to re-authenticate in advance, before your plan renewal.
Instructions for re-authentication:
- When your strong authentication expires after 12 months from the time it has been first made, your plan will not be able to renew and will be automatically discontinued. *
- If this happens, simply redo HSL’s Strong Authentication via the “My Plan” area of the Profile view.
- Purchase Whim Urban 30 with your preferred HSL zone.
*Please note that, if you do not wish for your plan to renew, you must make changes to your plan prior to the plan renewal.
I am not a resident of the HSL area, can I subscribe to the Whim Urban 30 plan?
If you are not a resident of one of the municipalities included in the HSL service area or the neighbouring municipalities (Hanko, Hausjärvi, Inkoo, Karkkila, Lohja, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila, Raasepori and Vihti), unfortunately, you are not eligible for Whim Urban 30 or Whim Weekend.
You may, however, still continue the Whim service on our Whim Unlimited plan or our pay as you go option.
I am a resident of a neighboring municipality (e.g., Porvoo), can I subscribe to the Whim Urban 30 plan?
Yes, you can now subscribe to Urban 30, if you are a resident of the neighbouring municipalities (Hanko, Hausjärvi, Inkoo, Karkkila, Lohja, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila, Raasepori and Vihti).
I am a foreigner and I just moved to the HSL area from abroad. May I subscribe to the Whim Urban 30 plan?
In order to purchase an HSL 30-day ticket and subscribe to the Whim Urban 30 plan, you need to have a permanent resident address registered in the HSL area.
If you already have a Finnish identity number, please contact the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) and inform them of your residence status. If you don't have a Finnish identity number yet, you must visit the DVV to register. Once your residence address is registered with the DVV, you should be able to subscribe to the Whim Urban 30 plan immediately.
Kindly note that the processing time of your residence address request varies. The time frame can be relatively longer at certain times, e.g., in August when schools start.

What should I do when an error message appears during the verification process?
If the error message “Ticket ineligibility” appears, it means that you do not have a permanent address in HSL service area or neighboring municipalities. Please submit a request in-app or via the web to the Whim Customer Care team, if you do have a permanent address in HSL area.
The error message “Active season ticket” indicates that the HSL travel time entitlement is currently active in your (physical) travel card or in the HSL app. You will need to wait until the HSL travel time entitlement has expired, then you can start the Whim Urban 30 plan.
If the error message “Verification failed” appears, it means that there is an error while verifying your eligibility with the HSL account service. Please try updating your plan again later, and if it still fails, please contact Whim Customer Care in-app or via the web.
What if the verification process fails even though I meet all the eligibility requirements?
If the verification process fails when all the eligibility requirements are met, please try again via the app.
Should this prove unsuccessful, please submit a request in-app or via the web to Whim Customer Care Team.
What is transaction-authorization on behalf of the user and how can I manage it?
Whim Urban 30 plan includes HSL 30-day mobile ticket. As such, you must give transaction-authorization to the Whim application developer, MaaS Global, when you take Whim Urban 30 into use. Authorization is needed due to the reason that the HSL tickets are personal. The authorization enables that MaaS Global/ The Whim App can purchase personal tickets on your behalf. (Fig. 5)

Can I purchase single HSL tickets for others, e.g., friends, while having a Whim Urban 30 plan?
Yes. Being a Whim Urban 30 customer, you will be able to purchase single HSL tickets for others who are traveling with you.
Do I need to activate the HSL 30-day ticket every month?
No. The HSL 30-day ticket will be renewed automatically unless and until you discontinue your Whim Urban 30 subscription.
Can I pause my Whim Urban 30 plan?
Unfortunately, you cannot pause the Whim Urban 30 plan. Therefore, please ensure that prior to your plan's renewal you have made the change in the app to cancel your plan. Once the plan is renewed it cannot be canceled and you will have to wait till the next renewal date before you can cancel it again.

Can I use the citybikes in Vantaa with Whim Urban 30?
No. At this time only Helsinki and Espoo city bikes are included in the Whim Urban 30.
Is an additional driver included in the price of my rental car?
If you are a Whim Urban 30 subscriber, an additional driver is included in the price when you rent from Sixt and Toyota Rent. How do I travel to HSL zones that are outside the zones covered by the 30-day HSL ticket in my plan?
If you have a valid 30-day ticket, you can expand its travel area by buying zone extension tickets within the app.
Examples (with new pricing that applies from 01.01.2020 onwards):
- AB season ticket + journey to Helsinki Airport -> extension ticket for zone C 2.50 euros
- BC season ticket + journey to Helsinki city center -> extension ticket for zone A 2.50 euros
- CD season ticket + journey to Helsinki city center -> extension ticket for zones A and B 2.80 euros
- ABC season ticket + journey to Kirkkonummi -> extension ticket for zone D 2.80 euros

I have received a notification about renewal failure. What should I do in this case?
The renewal failure might be due to the reason that you have moved out from the HSL service zone. Please make sure that you do have a permanent address in one of the following municipalities: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kirkkonummi, Kauniainen, Kerava, Sipoo, Siuntio, and Tuusula. Please also make sure that your HSL travel time entitlement is not currently active in your travel card nor in HSL app. After these, please try to resubscribe via the app again.
Should this prove unsuccessful please submit a request in-app or via the web to the Whim Customer Care team.
As a Whim Urban 30 customer, what should I do if I change my phone number?
If you wish to change your phone number, please submit a request in-app or via the web to the Whim Customer Care team. Kindly provide us your new number, as well as your first name, last name, phone number, email address and the last 4 digits of your credit card for authentication purposes.
My phone is lost or stolen, and I cannot access the service. What do I do?
If your phone is lost or stolen, please contact our Whim Customer Care team in-app or via the web as soon as possible.
I forgot to terminate my Whim Urban 30 plan, can I still terminate it after renewal?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to discontinue a plan after it has been renewed. You may, however, discontinue your plan anytime before the renewal and it will discontinue by the end of the ongoing term.

I bought the wrong 30-day ticket within my plan. What can I do?
Unfortunately, if you have purchased the wrong 30-day ticket, it is not possible to change the customer group or ticket type once the subscription is paid for and activated or renewed. These tickets will not be canceled nor refunded.
We kindly ask that before confirming the purchase, always make sure that you are buying the correct customer group or ticket type. If you have an active subscription and would like to make changes to your ticket, please make changes to your subscription before the end of the current 30-day period. The changes will take effect upon the next renewal.
The daily car rental rate under Whim Urban 30 is 49€, what is the price impact if I rent for multiple days?
The Whim Urban plans daily car rental rate is a fixed rate and will not change according to the number of days a car would be rented. Another option is to sign up for a recurring Whim Car subscription (available only on Whim Urban). This might lead to a slight reduction in the daily rate.
As a Whim Urban 30 subscriber, do I get unlimited access to the flat-rate 12,50€ taxis?
Yes, from 21st December 2020 this flat-rate applies to all taxi trips made with Taksi Helsinki, even rides at night time. If your trip is max. 3km and 10min long, you will be charged the flat-rate of 12,50€. There is no limit to the number of flat-rate trips you can take. If your trip is longer than 3km and/or 10min, normal meter pricing applies.
