Connexxion Service Area for Whim Users

With Whim, you are able to use Connexxion buses in the Amstelland Meerlanden, Gooi en Vechtstreek, and Haarlem-IJmond area. Kindly check the map below (Fig.1)  to see the service area of Connexxion buses for Whim users.

Available Ticket Types

1. 30 min ticket (valid for traveling in these 3 areas: Amstelland Meerlanden region, Gooi en Vechtstreek region, Haarlem-IJmond region)

2. 1-hour ticket (valid for traveling in these 3 areas: Amstelland Meerlanden region, Gooi en Vechtstreek region, Haarlem-IJmond region)

How to Buy a Connexxion Ticket through Whim

1. The Whim app recognizes your location and suggests the best ticket option.

2. You can activate or buy tickets from the Journey planner* (Fig. 2) or “Travel by” (Fig. 3).

* Note: When you buy a ticket through the Journey planner, your ticket will be activated 5-10 minutes before your vehicle is scheduled to leave. When you buy a ticket through the  “Travel by”, it will be activated immediately.

3. Add your departure and destination address to the Journey Planner (Fig. 4) and book the trip (Fig. 5).

4. From “Travel by” you can choose the ticket you need and confirm the ticket activation/purchase (Fig. 6).

5. You can find all your active tickets and validity information under the Active Tickets section in the Home View (Fig. 7). By tapping the ticket, you can open the QR code.

Using the Ticket

1) Scan the code from the ticket to the QR code reader in the bus to verify its validity when entering the bus as well as when exiting the bus.*

* Note: Remember to increase the brightness of your screen when scanning the code.

2) If you don't have a valid ticket, the bus driver won't let you take the bus, so please ensure that you have enough battery on your phone when traveling.

Can I enter the bus if my ticket will expire soon?

The ticket should be valid throughout the trip. So kindly note that if you choose a 30 min ticket, the route should not last longer than 30 minutes.

Is GPS required while using public transport?

Yes. GPS should always be enabled whenever using the Whim app. Without it, the service may be impaired.

What do I do if my phone runs out of battery?

If you don't have a valid ticket, the bus driver won't let you take the bus, so make sure that you have enough battery on your phone when traveling.

Can I take the night bus with my ticket?

If you want to take the night bus, the 30 min ticket is not valid. You need to buy a 60 min ticket (even if your trip is < 30 min).
