Which methods of payment are accepted?
We accept all major credit, debit or debit/credit combination cards, and Apple Pay.
Can I pay for services with in-app/travel credit?
In-app (or travel) credit can be used to pay for single trips within the app. You can see your in-app credit balance in your Whim app profile view. If you have any in-app credit available, this will be the default payment method for any single trips that you book. Please note that in-app credit cannot be used to pay for subscription plans.
If you have less in-app credit than the price of the trip you are paying for, in most cases you will be able to use your in-app credit towards the payment after which the remaining balance will be charged from your payment card. An exception to the rule are e-Scooters: when paying for an e-Scooter trip, you can pay with in-app credit only if your available balance is enough to cover the price of the entire trip. If not, the price of the whole trip will be charged from your payment card.
If you’d like to get more information about in-app credit and how to use it, please contact our Customer Service Team through the in-app Help Center.
What is the strong customer authentication during the payment?
The EU Payment Service Directive 2 (PSD2) applies to all-digital payment methods in EU countries. Starting on Saturday, September 14, 2019, all mobile and online payment will require something called “Strong Customer Authentication”(SCA).
In practice, it means that when you pay for any transportation service offered in Whim, subscribe to or renew a paid plan, or add a new payment method, you might need to take extra steps to verify your identity. Depending on your bank, the experience of strong authentication process varies: For example, you may need to use a code app (Nordea) or log into your bank account (Danske Bank).

How much does it cost to use Whim?
The Whim app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store. Whim offers plans which are automatically billed periodically. For more information about plan fees, please visit https://whimapp.com/ and select the country where you would like to use Whim. Or, if you prefer not to commit to such a plan, we also offer a pay-per-ride option.
Does my plan automatically renew until further notice?
If you make no changes to your Whim plan it will automatically renew and you will be billed automatically according to the billing period of your plan* (e.g. monthly or every 30 days depending on the type of plan you have subscribed to). If you wish, you can discontinue or change your subscription anytime, but remember to do it at least a day before the plan renewal*. You can find more information about your plan and subscription, or change your plan under the Current plan on the profile page of the Whim app.
If you do not make changes to your subscription, the current plan will be renewed automatically according to the billing period of your plan. You can discontinue your subscription anytime, but remember to do it at least a day before the plan renewal!
*Note:
- If you are discontinuing your Whim subscription, such as Whim Urban 30, Whim Weekend, or Whim Unlimited, the changes will only take effect at the end of the current billing period.
- If you are upgrading your plan from Whim Urban 30 or Whim Weekend to Whim Unlimited, the changes will take effect immediately.
- If you are upgrading your plan from Whim Urban 30 to Whim Weekend, the change will take effect at the end of the current billing period.
