Steps of renting a car with Whim
1. To book a rental car, tap “Rental Cars” in the Home View (Fig. 1).

2. You can edit location, pick-up, and drop-off dates and times in the Car Rental view (Fig.2). When you scroll down the “Find a car” section, you will see the map and rental companies.
You can filter the rental companies by pressing the button on the right bottom corner (Fig. 3). This will open up the rental company filter (Fig. 5).

3. Once your location, pick-up and drop-off times and dates have been set, Whim will show you all available cars* (Fig. 4). Tap specific cars listed to view more details of the rental car.
You can filter the rental companies that are shown by pressing the button in the upper right corner (Fig.5).
*Note: If the app shows no cars available, this might be due to start and end times being out of rental office hours.

4. Once you have chosen a car that suits you, proceed to “Select” the car (Fig. 6). Confirm the payment to reserve your rental car (Fig. 7).

5. Your booking has been made (Fig. 8)! You can view your upcoming bookings under the “Active Tickets” section in the Home View (Fig. 9). Tap a booking to open up a detailed view of the booking.

6. If you wish to cancel your booking, open up the detailed booking view by tapping the booking under the “Active Tickets” section in the Home View (Fig. 9). Scroll down to the bottom of the page and choose “Cancel booking” (Fig. 10). Once your booking has been canceled, you will see a confirmation at the top of the app’s screen (Fig. 11) and the payment for the booking will be refunded to you within a couple of banking days.

Types of rental cars available in Whim
Sixt:
There is a range of 5 different car classes through Sixt (5 car groups from sedans to station wagons). The app shows you the available cars and offices and you can pick the one that suits you best.
Extras and add-ons, e.g., child seats or return empty of fuel, are currently only available through Sixt for an extra price.
Please note that the additional driver, too, must show a valid driving license at the Sixt office.

Hertz:
With Whim, you can book Hertz rental cars fast and easily, with just a few clicks. Hertz offers 3 car categories: Ford Fiesta (manual transmission), Ford Focus (manual transmission) and Volvo V40 (both manual and automatic transmission available).
If you need other extra services during the car rental (i.e., children’s safety seat, returning the car with an empty gas tank, etc.) please contact the car rental.
An additional driver is not included in the price when renting from Hertz, but this can be purchased as an extra service when picking up the car (29,50€ per additional driver)
Toyota Rent:
Most of the cars are Toyota hybrids but other Toyota models are available as well, (for more details about Toyota models https://www.toyota.fi/#). You can check the updated availability of different car models with the Whim app.

Cancellation policy for car rentals
If you have a car booked from Hertz, Sixt, or Toyota, you may cancel your car reservation any time before the pick-up time. If you have a car booked from 24rent, please check here for its cancellation policy.
Pick up my car
Sixt:
Rental cars are picked up at Sixt offices. When picking up your car you must show a valid driving license and a credit card for the 500€ excess (if you have a paid Whim season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle) or 900€ (if you have no season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle), which the car rental company will require to cover possible damages. The money will be returned to you at the end of your rental if everything is in order.
The cost of your rental includes unlimited kilometers* and compulsory third-party insurance.
Please note that Sixt Rent a Car accepts most major international credit cards, such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard and Visa, and AirPlus accounts. It does not accept prepaid vouchers, debit cards (Visa Electron, Maestro), or cash.

*Note: If you have rented a car from Sixt for more than 27 days, a 2000-kilometers per month limit will apply to your reservation. Any driven kilometers over the 2000 km/month will be charged with a fee set by Sixt. For a rental of 27 days or less, no kilometer limit applies.
Hertz:
The rental cars are available in all Hertz offices in Helsinki and the capital area (except the office in the airport).In addition, cars are available from Hertz offices located in Tampere and Turku city centers.
You will need a valid driver’s license and a minimum of one year of driving experience.
You also need a credit card for a 200 € deposit. In the case, there are any damages caused by the renter, the excess deductible is 500 € if you have a paid Whim season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle. If you don't have a season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle, the excess is 980€-1500€ per damage depending on the car class.
Hertz accepts commonly used credit cards for the deposit and possible extra services. They don't accept prepaid cards, debit cards, Visa Electron, Maestro, or cash. The deposit will be returned to your card after the rental if the car is returned as agreed and its condition matches the Hertz terms and conditions.
*Note: An additional driver is not included in the rental price when renting from Hertz. This can, however, be purchased as an extra service when picking up the car (29,50€ per additional driver). The additional driver must also come along to pick up the car and present their driving license when picking up the car.
Toyota Rent:
Rental cars are picked up at Toyota retailers. When picking up the car, you must show a valid driving license and a credit card for the 510 € excess, which the car rental company will require to cover possible damages. The money will be returned to you at the end of your rental if everything is in order. Toyota Rent accepts most major international credit cards.
The cost of your rental includes unlimited kilometers and compulsory third-party insurance.

Return my car
Sixt:
If you rent a car in the Helsinki capital region, you may also return the car to any Sixt office in the Helsinki capital region. When renting elsewhere, for example in Mikkeli, you must also return the car to the Mikkeli office.
If you want to change your return location, you can do so at an additional cost paid at the Sixt office when picking up your car.
Please remember to fill up the tank before returning the car, unless you have agreed with Sixt upon pickup to return the car empty of fuel. For more information, please see Sixt Terms and Conditions in Finland.
Hertz:
If you pick up the car from a Hertz office in Helsinki or the capital area, the car can be returned to any Hertz office in Helsinki or the capital area (also to the office in the airport).
If you pick up the car from Tampere or Turku, the car should be returned to the same office where it was picked up unless agreed otherwise. If you wish to return the car to a different location, please contact the car rental. They might charge an extra fee for this service.
The car also needs to be returned with a full tank, unless otherwise agreed with the rental office.
Toyota Rent:
You need to always return the car to the same place from where you picked it up.
Please remember to fill up the tank before returning the car, unless you have agreed with Toyota Rent upon pickup to return it empty of fuel.
Minimum age requirement
For Sixt, the renter should be at least 19 years of age and hold a valid driving license for at least one year. With Sixt, drivers under the age of 25 will also need to pay a Young Driver Surcharge. The Young Driver Surcharge is a fee that will be applied for rentals to young drivers and the price varies depending on the state of the rental. For Hertz, the renter should be at least 19 years of age and hold a valid driving license for at least one year.
For Toyota, the renter should be at least 20 years of age and hold a valid driving license for at least one year.
Additional driver
If you have HSL 30-day season ticket, an HSL 30-day student season ticket, Whim Unlimited, a 10-ticket package, or a City Bike season pass, an additional driver is included in the price when you rent from Sixt and Toyota Rent. However, an additional driver is not included in the price, when renting from Hertz, but this can be purchased as an extra service when picking up the car (29,50€ per additional driver).
Please note that the additional driver must also come along to pick up the car and present their driving license when picking up the car.
Whim Unlimited Subscribers
Kilometer limit
If you have rented a car from Hertz or Toyota rent through Whim, no kilometer limit will apply to your car rental. However, If you have rented a car from Sixt for more than 27 days, a 2000-kilometers per month limit will apply to your reservation. Any driven kilometers over the 2000 km/month will be charged with a fee set by Sixt.

We kindly suggest you search for available rental cars in-app. Rental car availability depends on demand. We therefore strongly advise booking your rental car as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If you are renting a car for the weekend through Sixt (Kalasatama or Hakaniemi Hilton Strand rental locations), please note that you will need to make your booking by 12:00 on Friday for both Friday and Saturday pick-up.
Is it possible to travel across borders with a rental car?
This must be agreed upon separately with the rental company and it might generate additional costs.
What is the maximum rental period?
Sixt:
The maximum rental period is 42 days if you rent a car from Sixt. You will see the price for your rental before confirming it on the whim app. Just like many other car rentals, the daily rental fee works out cheaper for a longer rental period (for example 5 days or a weekend) with Whim, too.
Hertz:
There is no maximum rental period for rental cars from Hertz.
Toyota Rent:
Toyota Rent has no maximum rental period.
How can I compare the rental prices of different cars?
You can compare the rental prices by scrolling through the available cars within the Whim app. Click on the car of your choice for more information and a map view of its location.
Remember to specify the rental period you require to see current car availability.
I tried to rent a car but there are none available or the price is too high. What can I do?
The reason behind limited or no availability could be that most of your nearest Sixt offices are closed at the time you have selected. Select a pickup time during office hours to see a wider selection of cars and offices. (If you must pick up your car outside office hours, you are most likely to find availability at the Sixt airport office, which is open almost 24/7).
If the cars are too expensive, try, for example, a Friday pickup and a Monday return or a longer rental period, such as 5 days. If you wish, you may return the car before the agreed return date.
Can I get a refund for the lost time if the rental car is picked up later or returned earlier than the prebooked time?
If the vehicle is picked up later or returned earlier than the prebooked time, kindly note that no refunds will be paid. Extra fees may apply for late pick-ups and late returns.
I have Sixt regular customer card. Can I use it on my car bookings made in Whim?
It is not possible to use the regular customer card benefits in bookings made via Whim.
I booked a rental car without a subscription, but have now subscribed to a season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle. Will the terms and conditions (T&Cs) of my upcoming rental change according to the subscription I have started?
The terms of your rental are determined by the subscription that you were on when you made your rental booking, even if your subscription was to change before the booking actually started.
If you wish for your car rental to align with the T&Cs of a specific season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle, we recommend canceling your already-made booking and making a new booking when your season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle is active.
HSL 30-day season ticket, HSL 30-day student season ticket, Ten Ticket, and City Bike season pass
If you rent a car without a season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle, your terms of the rental will remain the same even if you subscribe to a new subscription prior to the start of your booking.
The same applies if you make a booking during a subscription period. The rental terms and conditions will follow those of the Whim season ticket, serial ticket, or bundle, even if you had changed or discontinued your subscription prior to the start of the booking.
Unlimited
If you rent a car without the Unlimited subscription, your terms of the rental will remain the same even if you subscribe to the Unlimited subscription prior to the start of your booking.
If you make a booking during an Unlimited subscription period, the rental terms and conditions will follow those until the end of the subscription period.
