Introduction
24 Rent offers rental cars and vans suitable for daily use, weekend trips and even for moving house. Rental cars are located and can be conveniently picked up from city centers, near shopping centers and public transport routes. Cars are opened without keys in online customer portal.
Rider Requirements
- You have to have a Finnish Social Security Number to be able to use 24rent cars via Whim.
- Driver must be over 18-years old.
- You have to have a valid driver’s license.
Pricing
Fixed pricing is available for the following rentals:*
- 2h & max 100km: 15€
- 4h & max 100km: 30€
- 8h & max 400km: 40€
*Note: Fixed prices are only available for customers who have either HSL 30 day season ticket, HSL 30 day student season ticket, 10-ticket package, City Bike season pass, VOI 30/60 min package or Unlimited plan.
Standard pricing applies to all other types of trips.

Extra services
You can purchase extra service after the booking has been made from the m.24Rent.fi web page. You will need to pay for the extra services in the m.24Rent.fi web page. The prices for the extra services vary depending on the car model.
Booking a car and Verifying Your Driver’s License
Before renting a car, you will need to register to Whim (if you haven’t done it yet), complete your profile and add your payment method.
When you are renting a car for the first time from 24Rent, you need to book the car 24h before the booking starts.
- Select “Rental Car” under “Travel By” (Fig. 1).

- The Car Rental View will open up (Fig. 2). You can edit location, pick-up and drop-off dates and times in the Rental View (Fig. 2). You can scroll down the “Find a car” section to see the map and rental companies. You can filter the rental companies by pressing the button on the right bottom corner (Fig. 3). This will open up the rental company filter (Fig. 5).

- Once your location, pick-up and drop-off times and dates have been set, Whim will show you all available cars (Fig. 4). Tap specific cars listed to view more details of the rental car. You can filter (Fig. 5) the rental companies that are shown by pressing the button on the upper right corner.

- When you have chosen a 24Rent car that suits you, you will need to verify your drivers license (Fig.6). Prepare to take a picture of your driver's license and a selfie. You will get notified once your driver’s license has been approved.*
*Note: You are not able to complete the booking until the driver’s license has been approved.

- After the verification has been approved, proceed to “Select” the car (Fig. 7). Confirm the payment to reserve your rental car (Fig. 8) and accept 24Rent Terms and Conditions.

- Your booking has been made (Fig. 9)! You can view your upcoming bookings under the “Active Tickets” section in the Home View (Fig. 10). Tap a booking to open up a detailed view of the booking.

Cancelling a booking
If you cancel the booking 7 days before the booking starts, you will get a full refund. If you cancel the booking after that, you might be partly or fully refunded. Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that you will get a refund if the terms and conditions of the cancellation policy are not fulfilled.
If you have bought cancellation insurance, you can cancel the reservation 2h before the booking starts. The payment will be refunded to you and the cancellation insurance payment will be deducted from the refund.
If you cancel the booking and make another 24Rent booking to replace the old booking, you will get a full refund.

You can cancel your booking either via m.24Rent.fi web page or via Whim. If you cancel the booking via Whim, open the booking under “Active Tickets” (Fig. 11) and choose “Cancel booking” (Fig. 12).

Editing the booking
You can edit your booking in the m.24Rent.fi web page. You can buy extra services or extend the booking time. You can access the m.24Rent.fi web page by opening the booking in Whim app. Open the booking under “Active Tickets” (Fig. 11) and choose “Change booking in 24Rent portal” (Fig. 13).

How to use the car
In this section we explain how to start the ride, what to do during the ride and how to end the ride.
Starting the ride
- Open the booking under “Active Tickets” (Fig. 11). Choose “Start using” (Fig. 14) and you will be directed to the m.24Rent.fi web page.

- Find your car. You can find the location from the m.24Rent.fi web page.
- Perform the damage inspection by taking photos of the car via m.24Rent.fi web page. Check the car from inside and outside. Check that there is a snow brush and a parking timer inside the car. If you notice any damages, inform those via 24Rent web app. You can take the pictures within the m.24Rent.fi web page, but you will need to make sure that the pictures are saved also in your phone. You will need to save the pictures for 30 days after the booking has ended.
- Open the doors via web app.
- You can find the keys instructed by the m.24Rent.fi web page.
During the ride
- If you need to pause the ride, keep the booking running and close and open the doors with the key.
- Parking is free of charge in some cases. Some of the cars in Helsinki, Tampere, Lahti and Oulu have parking permits, which allows you to park for free in certain areas. You can find more details here.
- If you need to park the car to a place where the parking is chargeable and the car doesn't have a parking permit you will need to pay the parking by yourself. You are responsible to pay parking fees, if you get one.
- If you park to a place where a parking timer is needed, remember to use the parking timer which is in the car.
- If you need to extend your booking, you can do that in the m.24Rent.fi web page.
- If you notice during the rental that the mileage is in danger of being exceeded, you can purchase extra mileage from the m.24Rent.fi web page.
Ending the ride
- Fill the gas tank full. Save the receipt.
- Return the car to the pickup location and park it according to the guidance and traffic laws. You can agree a different parking location by either calling 24Rent customer service or through the m.24Rent.fi web page.
- Tap on your booking in the Whim home view under “Active Tickets”. You will be directed to the m.24Rent.fi web page.
- Perform the damage inspection by taking photos of the car. Inform all the damages via m.24Rent.fi web page. You can take the pictures within the m.24Rent.fi web page, but you will need to make sure that the pictures are saved also in your phone. You will need to save the pictures for 30 days after the booking has ended.
- Turn off all the lights. Clean the car (clean the trash and carpets and wipe stains from the cabin and trunk).
- Put the keys to the place instructed by the m.24Rent.fi web page. In an unclear situation, please contact 24Rent via the m.24Rent.fi web page. Do not lock the car with the keys!
- Close all the doors and windows.
- Check the instructions, close the booking and lock the car via the m.24Rent.fi web page.
- Check that the doors are locked and that the lights turn off within 10 seconds. You don’t need to wait for the dashboard lights to turn off.
- Check that you have parked the car according to the guidance and traffic laws. If the car is not parked correctly or if you forgot something to the car, you are able to open the car doors via the m.24Rent.fi web page.

Where can I pick up a car from?
Rental cars are located and can be conveniently picked up from city centers, near shopping centers and public transport routes. You can see the home location before booking the car and the exact location from the m.24Rent.fi web page before the booking starts.
Is insurance included in the car rental?
Standard deductible is included in the price. The amount varies depending on the car model. For vans, the deductible is 1800€ and for passenger cars 1200€. You can lower the deductible from the m.24Rent.fi web page.
The vehicle has a standard car insurance policy that covers damages to the innocent party that exceed the selected deductible. The vehicle also has additional insurance that covers elk collisions, fire, theft, and collisions. The insurance pays for standard damages that exceed the selected deductible. The theft insurance does not cover the property of the Renter. The insurance does not cover damages to the vehicle that the renter has caused by acting carelessly, through negligence, or intentionally. If the vehicle is damaged by a third party during the rental period, the renter must provide the company a damage report and the applicable third party’s assurance to pay for the damages.
I have a foreign driver’s license, can I rent a car from 24Rent?
You can rent a car from 24Rent with a foreign driver’s license, but you will need to have a Finnish social security number.
My driver’s license got rejected after the verification process, why?
Check that your driver’s license is valid. Take the pictures of the driver’s license and the selfie in a good lighting and make sure all the information of the driver’s license is shown in the picture.
Does my car rental have a kilometer limit?
Fixed prices have the following kilometer limit: 2h/100km, 4h/100km and 8h/400km.
With standard prices the kilometer limit is 100km for every 24 hours. For example: 24h/100km, 48h/200km and 72h/300km. If you have rented a car for example for 72h, you can drive for 300km in total. You don’t have to divide the kilometers for each day.

How do I lock the car doors?
If you need to pause the ride, keep the booking running and close and open the doors with the key. The vehicle must always be locked when unoccupied. You must lock the vehicle doors as instructed at the end of the rental period – the keys must not be used. Otherwise penalty fee might be incurred. Close the booking and lock the car via the m.24Rent.fi web page.
I booked a car, but now I want to change the car. Can I change it?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the car after the booking has been made. If you wish to change the car, you will need to cancel the booking and rebook.
I returned my car earlier than planned, can I get a refund for unused time?
If you return your rental car earlier than planned, you will not get a refund for unused time.
Do I need to fill up the rental car before returning it?
Yes, the rental car must be returned with a full tank.
What if I return the rental car late?
If you fail to return the vehicle in time, you will be charged a penalty fee. You can find more information from here.

Is free parking included in the car rental?

Regardless of the parking permit, you must adhere to all standard parking rules and regulations. Do not park on private property, in front of gateways or pedestrian crossings, on spaces reserved for the vehicles of disabled persons or diplomats, or on areas with an effective or upcoming request to move vehicles within three days (a Siirtokehotus sign).
What should I do if something goes wrong with the rental car during my trip?

Can I take a pet to the rental car?
Yes you can, but pets should be transported with a leash and car seats must be protected. Failure to comply shall result in the Renter being liable for the cleaning costs. More information about the service fees can be found here.
Do I need to clean the car after the rental?
Yes. You will need to clean the trash and carpets and wipe stains from the cabin and trunk. If the car isn’t cleaned properly, you might be charged a service fee. More information about the service fees can be found here.
I forgot something in the car, what should I do?
If you notice immediately after ending the booking and locking the doors, that you forgot something in the car, you are able to open the car doors via m.24Rent.fi web page. If you notice it later, please contact 24Rent customer service via m.24Rent.fi web page.
I was charged a damage fee after the booking ended, why?
You may be charged fees for: unauthorized parking, failure to check that the vehicle is locked, failure to switch lights or other power draining equipment off, failure to close the windows, and any other careless or inconsiderate acts. You can find more information from here.
