Overview
As a Whim user, you may use Swiss Public Transport network and the public transport modes. You may use: Metro only in Lausanne, commuter train (“S-Bahn”) in different regions/cities, trams, trolleybuses, bus, automated shuttles in 5 cities, and trains.

How to buy Swiss Public Transport network tickets with Whim
1. You can plan your journey and book tickets easily using our Journey Planner. You can access the Journey Planner by tapping the “Where to?” field in the home view or by selecting one of your Favourite destinations.

2. Add your departure and destination addresses into the text fields provided. Choose a suitable journey plan (Fig. 2), review the details, select the correct ticket type and class, then proceed to book the trip. For more information about using the Journey Planner, please see here.

3. In the passenger details section you can enter your personal details and select whether you are in possession of any of the following travelcards: Half-fare, GA 2nd class, GA 1st class travelcard.
4. Proceed to make payment, review your selection again and accept the T&C and confirm payment.
5. Once your trip has been booked, you can see your trip and active ticket in the Home View (Fig. 3). You can access the full itinerary and any tickets also by tapping the trip and opening up the full itinerary (Fig. 4).

6. After the trip has ended, you will receive an email receipt of the ticket payment and you can find details about your trip by going to your profile -> Past trips.
Tickets and pricing in Whim
At the moment we only offer a pay-per-ride option in Switzerland. You may purchase public transport single tickets via the app whenever needed for a fee. The correct ticket prices can be checked from the App. The following tickets below can be purchased through Whim:
Single tickets (Regional)
All the ticket types below are are are available in 1st and 2nd class, regular price and reduced price (with half-fare card):
- single ticket in regional (Mobilis) tarif agreement
- single ticket in regional (Frimobil) tarif agreement
- single ticket in regional (Libero) tarif agreement
- single ticket in regional (Onde Verte) tarif agreement
Single tickets (national)
All of the ticket types below are available at regular price and reduced price (with half-fare card):
- single tickets (“point to point”) across Switzerland (A to B), 1st and 2nd class
- return tickets, 1st and 2nd class
Day tickets
All of the ticket types below are available as regular price and reduced price (with half-fare card):
- daily ticket regional (Mobilis) tarif agreement
- daily ticket regional (Frimobil) tarif agreement
- daily ticket regional (Libero) tarif agreement
- 24h ticket regional (Onde Verte) tarif agreement, region: Le Locle (Neuchâtel)
- 24h ticket regional (Onde Verte) tarif agreement, region: La Chaux-de-Fonds (Neuchâtel)

Are tickets personalized?
Yes. All tickets are personalized. You are required to add the following information to the ticket details: full name and date of birth.
How do I know what price I have to pay for the tickets?
Based on the age you have entered in Whim, the app will show you the ticket offers and prices that match the age (e.g. if you are < 16 years, you get approx. 50% off the regular ticket price).
Can I book a return ticket?
At the moment no. We are working to add this feature in the near future.
Can I have multiple passes on my SwissPass at the same time?
Yes. You can have multiple passes (e.g. monthly ticket) on the SwissPass.
What do I do if my ticket expires during the trip?
If your ticket expires during the trip, you need to buy a new ticket to finish the trip. You can see each ticket’s validity on the Whim App.
Can I interrupt my trip?
So-called point to point tickets or long distance exiting the limits of one regional tariff community are valid for a full day until 5 am next day. These tickets allow you to make as many intermediate stops as you want on the chosen route (ex: Going from Zurich to Lausanne, you decide to have lunch in Bern and continue in the afternoon). Daily regional travelcards are also valid for a full day and allow you to make as many trips and stops in the zones you have paid for.
Are the ticket ticket inspectors allowed to inspect tickets bought through Whim?
Yes. The inspectors are allowed to check your ticket and ask for your ID if needed. We kindly ask you to oblige to the checks done by the inspector.
How do I apply for a refund if the transport method I was trying to use was delayed/cancelled?
In the case that you wish to receive a refund for a single ticket then you should contact the nearest ticket counter, the refund will be handled at the counter.
